Week 1
I went to the Superblue exhibition in Miami, Florida last month. The exhibition contains works from Teamlab, James Turrell, and Es Devlin. The reason I choose this installation is that they are mostly projection installations. Visitors normally stay in each exhibition for a while, taking photos, and then realized that the installation is interactive.
For the Teamlab project, I did not see the equipment, but I guess they have hidden them on the ceiling. The projection is projected directly on the floors and walls. The projection is changing over time and interacting with the users. When the user steps on the flower petals, the flowers scatter.
According to Teamlab’s website, “The artwork is not a pre-recorded image that is played back: it is created by a computer program that continuously renders the work in real-time. The interaction between people and the installation causes continuous change in the artwork: previous visual states can never be replicated, and will never reoccur. The picture at this moment can never be seen again.“
