The Other Side
How to utilize leather waste?
Typically, when people are thinking about leather, they will think about the skin side of the hide; however, in this project, I decided to use the normally ignored side of the leather, which is the thickness side. If there are imperfections on the ‘nicer’ side of the leather, the ‘ugly’ side could still be utilized.
When layered all this leather together and cut them all in once, you can get a nice, and smooth surface with different color strips of leather.
This surface can be made into panels and tiles that form different patterns and shapes and using in different residential as well as commercial interiors.
Besides working as a decorative piece, this material also has a very good performance in sound absorption. Acoustic leather tiles can be 4 to 6 times more effective in sound absorption than traditional fabric-covered walls, offering a sophisticated, distinctive appearance and superior acoustic properties. Also, this material can be water-resistant after putting a finish on top.
